Hello UNB Engineering Alumni!

Thanks for stopping by our page to see what we are up to! This year is pretty exciting! We have a lot of new initiatives on the go while still maintaining our UNB Engineering traditions. We kicked off the year with Orientation for the first year engineering students: hosting BBQ’s, giving the students some real-deal talks about university and engineering, then heading out to Killarney Lake to race cardboard boats and play games with each of the discipline societies. It was a great two days, with around 260 first years coming out to participate!

Last term, we hosted our annual Welcome Back BBQ and Pillar Pub, a second Pillar Pub with a “Fast Friends” theme, had a blast at Fall Freakout, scared the crap out of people at the APEGNB Charlotte Street Art Centre Haunted House, sent four delegates to compete at the World Mining Competition in Saskatoon, and hosted over 80 students for Shadow Day! To round out the term, we hosted a “Peers on Careers” night to help first year students decide on their discipline, sent 10 delegates to the Conference on Diversity in Engineering in Montreal, collaborated with the Business and Administration Undergraduate Society (BAUS) to collect food and money donations for the Food Bank and, of course, had another Pillar Pub.

The Winter 2017 term has just as much going on! We sent delegates to compete in the Atlantic Engineering Competition and the Canadian Engineering Competition, had a very successful Engineering Week (with the Engg Cup - congrats to the Mechanical team!!), as well as all of the other standard events. New this year, we will be hosting our first ever Iron Pin Ceremony! This ceremony is intended to instill a sense of engineering ethics to first year students as they enter the second year of their engineering degree.

New this year, we have set up a link to support the EUS (see below). This is designed to be used for support from former students, for current students. The money that you provide will go directly to the events listed above: enhancing UNB Engineering students’ experiences! As transparency is key with initiatives such as this, we will release a report at the end of the academic year detailing statistics of the money received, and where it was allotted. Please note, your support of the EUS is not considered a donation to the University of New Brunswick. Therefore, no charitable receipt will be issued for your support. All personal information will be kept confidential. If you want to tell us where YOU want to see your money go, drop us a line through the contact information listed below!

Have any questions? Want to see an old event be brought back? Want to get involved with the students? Have an idea on how to connect students with alumni? Want to brag about the fact you don’t have to do 10 assignments a week anymore?
